MIDDLEWICH COMMUNITY RALLIES TOGETHER TO
CLEAN FOR THE QUEEN

Clean for The Queen is a campaign launched by Country Life magazine in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy to clear up Britain in time for The Queen’s 90th birthday in 2016.

It will rally an army of volunteers across the country to clean up their local areas and will include a special clean-up weekend on March 4–6.

Middlewich Clean Team, which is one of the country’s leading litter picking organisations and is a member of Keep Britain Tidy’s network, is joining forces with Middle Wyches WI and Middlewich U3A on 5th March to litter pick all corners of the town to lead the way in the Clean for the Queen initiative.

The litter pick will start from Town Bridge at 2pm on Saturday 5th March.

Sue Johns, Chair of Middlewich U3A said “We are a very active and energetic U3A and our members are really keen to get out there and help to make the town sparkle. We approached the Clean Team to see if they would support us on this and were pleased that they agreed to help us to organise a special litter pick.”

Susan leicester, President of Middle Wyches WI said “The National Federation of Women’s Institutes has adopted Clean for the Queen as one of its projects for the year so Middle Wyches WI were delighted not only to be involved in a clean-up in the town but also to work with other community organisations”

Janet Chisholm, Chairperson of the Middlewich Clean Team said “Whilst we already have a scheduled litter pick on Monday, 7th March, when we were approached by U3A and WI, we agreed to slot in an additional litter pick to make our town extra clean to celebrate the Queen’s 90th. We hope that other Middlewich organisations and individuals will join in with this initiative and we will be able to cover areas of the town we are not able to visit very often.”
